Endoscopy of the nasal fossae and anatomy of the tear ducts

Surgeon: Dr. Pierre Escalas

Institut Ophtalmologique Sourdille Atlantique Nantes / Saint Herblain

Tear surgery connects the lacrimal sac, located in the orbit, with the nasal cavity after removing the thin bony membrane that separates these two anatomical areas.

Endoscopy allows us to see the inside of the nasal cavity, this video describes this technique and reveals the anatomy, this allows us to understand the principles of reconstructive surgery of the lacrimal passages that eliminate tears towards the nose.

The videos have been created and produced with great care to be as relevant as possible. Many topics are controversial and the options presented are rational personal choices, the result of an experiment involving several thousand interventions. Other ways of doing things are possible, they may have been proposed to you, so do not hesitate to ask for the reasons for the choices that were made.

This site is only a guide and does not replace the explanations given in a consultation, which are essential for understanding the analysis of the characteristics of your face, which is unique.

In the same way, the examples presented allow you to understand the principles of eye surgery, but they are not necessarily transposable to your particular situation. It is therefore not possible to guarantee the results that you have seen on the different presentations.

By consulting this site, you accept these limits. If you do not, I ask you not to use it.
