Lipostructure consists in providing volume with micografts of fat arranged in the form of multiple small clusters that will be feeded by peripheral tissues.
The fat is taken from the patient himself (autologous or self-grafting) on the inner side of the knee and thigh. It is centrifuged to concentrate the fat cells (adipocytes) and then placed in the areas to be filled with a cannula. This cannula is a fairly large diameter needle with a rounded end to avoid injuring the blood vessels. The graft also contains stem cells and growth factors that will have a regenerative effect on the quality of the tissue.
An over correction is voluntarily sought because part of the graft will resorb in the 6 months following the operation. This resorption is variable and can be the cause of an unsatisfactory result when it is unusually important. It may then be necessary to repeat the procedure.
This technique is recent in the peri-ocular region which is a delicate area to treat. It is a breakthrough method that most often gives spectacular and exciting results. It is now used on the whole face to fill the hollows.
